China announced the end of its hugely controversial one-child policy on Thursday, after decades of strict, sometimes brutal enforcement left it with an ageing population and shrinking workforce that has heightened the challenges of slowing economic growth. An Islamic group called Tablighi Jamaat has been refused plans to build what would have been Britain's largest mosque. The so-called 'megamosque' in east London would have housed more than 11,000 people in a number of prayer rooms and halls.If granted permission, the mosque, which would have been close to the Olympic Park, would have had three times the floor space of St Paul's Cathedral and 190-ft minarets. Opponents to the plans claim the sect promotes an"ultra-conservative" brand of Islam and that the plans would have led to heightened tensions in the area. Airport bosses claim she was breaking regulations by not telling them she was 36 weeks pregnant.The new mum, who has not be named went into labour while on board. A man in China had to be rescued after getting his arm stuck in a toilet brimming with poo while trying to retrieve his treasured iPhone. He had just done number two and was pulling up his trousers when the phone slipped out and into the toilet. He promptly plunged his hand down the loo in a desperate but ultimately futile attempt to retrieve his phone, he got stuck and called for help.
