Fayose accuses APC of plot to compromise judiciary to remove him, writes CJN Onnoghen, Says; Fayemi, Oni behind plot

Fayose Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has alerted the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, of fresh plots by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to compromise a section of the Judiciary andmuzzle democracy in their desperation to oust him from office, saying; “The essence of all of these is to silence him as the voice of opposition in the country because he has bluntly rejected all overtures to him to defect into the ruling APC or stop talking.”The governor, who warned against any plot to destabilise Ekiti State, wondered how long the Ekiti APC and its collaborators will pursue their clandestine agenda of reversing an election they lost over 30 months ago and validated by the tribunal, appeal court and the Supreme Court.”In a letter he addressed to Justice Onnoghen, Fayose alleged that “certain APC chieftains were again making subterranean moves to manipulate and compromise a section of the Judiciary, particularly some ...

Tension Grips Abia As Ikpeazu, Otti Know Fate Today

The political temperature in Abia State rose sharply monday as news filtered that the governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Umuahia would deliver its verdict today. The petition filed by the governorship flag bearer of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr. Alex Otti, challenging the election of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is the only case for determination. The high level anxiety being generated by the petition was due to the stiff opposition that APGA gave PDP, which had held sway in the state for most of the period, except for the three year brief period that the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) was in government before the then governor defected to the PDP. The governorship election held on April 11, 2015 in the state ended inconclusively thereby necessitating a supplementary poll of April 25, 2015. Consequently the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after collating the final tally, declared Ikpeazu wi...

The presidency has warned Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, to stop making unsubstantiated allegations pertaining to the running of the economy by the Muhammadu Buhari-led government.

The governor equally knows full well that his party, while in government, ruined the economy to the extent that workers in 27 states went for several months without salary. This crisis situation has now been reversed in nearly all the states. Governor Fayose is himself in line for the collection of his state’s bailout. “Under the PDP federal government, ministries were not given overhead costs for five months while the capital budget was unpaid for six months in the run-up to the exit of the PDP administration. Is there anyone in that party with a moral justification to criticise the Buhari administration which is working hard to clean up the mess they (PDP) left behind?” Specifically, the presidency said Fayose’s comment on the September federal allocation of N389 billion was reckless and typical of his past unguarded outbursts. The senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, who sounded the presidency’s warning, was reacting to remarks ...

Fayose, who is the Visitor to the College, lamented the deplorable state of the nation’s economy, noting that rather than address it, the All Progressives Congress- led Federal Government has been employing propaganda to deal with the issue. He said: “This is the time for the Federal Government to come out and tell Nigerians about the state of the economy rather than employ propaganda. “I foresee serious trouble ahead because in the next three months, the economy may collapse. Oil now sells in the region of $40 per barrel. Things have never been bad like this.
