For quite some time now, posts published on Instant Articles were exclusive to the main Facebook app. Facebook rolled out the feature to the Android Messenger app yesterday with a promise that the iOS version will soon be available.
Instant Articles is a mobile publishing format for news and content publishers to help produce fast, interactive articles on Facebook. As usual, a lightning bolt icon will notify users on the Messenger app of a shared Instant Article. It is noteworthy that Instant Articles load up to 10 times faster than the normal mobile web.
This newly added feature will allow users to access links directly in the Messenger app without having to visit the publisher’s website. Also, Ads included in Instant Articles will also be displayed automatically.
Facebook stated in a blog post that publishers already using the publishing platform or those who intend to do so will benefit immensely from this move:
“ If you’re a publisher that has enabled Instant Articles, we’ll render the Instant Articles version of your article whenever its URL is shared in Messenger.
The social media giant has previously made it clear that users will see lesser content from brand pages in their news feed . However, smart business owners will definitely take advantage of the Messenger app which has over 900 million monthly active users presently.
