The appeal filed by former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Emeka Ihedioha, challenging the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Governor Rochas Okorocha, in the April 11 governorship election in the state, was on Thursday, dismissed by the Supreme Court. Okorocha-Ihedioha A seven-man bench, led by Justice John Fabiyi, affirmed an earlier judgment by the Court of Appeal, Owerri, which held that Ihedioha’s failure to properly serve Okorocha and his party robbed the appellate court the jurisdiction to hear the case. The Supreme Court noted that Ihedioha’s failure to indicate, in the appeal processes (documents), addresses of other respondents was fatal to the case. The court consequently dismissed the appeal for lacking in merit. Plane crash A plane caught fire at the Fort Lauderdale, Florida airport today, sending passengers fleeing for their lives out of the aircraft's emergency slides. Unknown gunmen have abducted Madam Ebifieghe Bikoroghe, 105-year-old mother of the Bayelsa State All Progressives Congress deputy governorship candidate, Chief Wilberforce Igiri. It was learnt that Madam Bikoroghe was forcibly seized in her residence at Forupa in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state. Ado-Ekiti – Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State yesterday accused lecturers in some higher institutions of being responsible for the increasing incidences of sexual harassment and cultism in higher institutions in the country.
